FOREWORD

Living with your wife in an understanding way means you’re supposed to know her. You’re not supposed to treat her generically — you’re supposed to treat her uniquely.

And to treat her uniquely, you must work at knowing her. Even the Scripture admonishes husbands to dwell with their wives according to knowledge (1 Peter 3:7). My wife, the author of this incredible book, and I have known each other for thirty-six years and have been married for twenty-nine. With that, you would think I should know everything about her – well, so I assumed, until I read the manuscript of this book. Reading this book was like unveiling the face of a new bride, where you discover that, although you thought you knew her before, you realise there’s a deeper level of understanding. An understanding that captures and absorbs the granular details of her nature and nurtures her fears and courage, her trials and triumphs, way before we even met and since then.

The stories you will be introduced to in this book are not new to me, but reading it from the pen of the principal actor’s narrative energy and style made me connect with every account at a deeper, almost spiritual, level. Ironically, My Journey to Purpose is to tell her story is to say it is mine too, because without who she is, I could not be who I am and vice versa. So, in a way, as you read this, you also get a peek into my autobiography, which is therefore two for the price of one! It’s an unputdownable book! Temi’s enigma, charisma, brilliance and light shine through on every page. We do not make our past; our past makes us, so readers will get to know what makes Temi tick and why Temi is Temi.

This book represents in many ways the pages and chapters of my wife’s life thus far. Reading it has made me know her more, love her more and honour her more. Anyone who has met my wife for a second will admit she is one of the most likable, personable, amiable and engaging people God has made. This book is no different. The pages and chapters are written with exciting suspense, interesting captivation, and fascinating mental images. If you have not met my wife in person, do not worry – you’ll meet her as you turn the pages of this book. Be encouraged by her story, be awed by her altruism, be challenged by her faith and let her purpose inspire you to yours.

Much love,

Bunmi Ajayi (PhD)

It has been a pleasure knowing Ps Temitayo Ajayi. We initially met briefly at a mutual friend’s residence in 2010 in Australia. Since then, our connection has evolved from a mere friendship to a ministry partnership. She exemplifies grit, resilience and is very passionate about her family and her Christian faith. One aspect of her character that I particularly admire is her humility in service. Ps Temi, as she is fondly called, presents a witty and audacious narration of her life, meticulously weaving through significant milestones and highlighting notable interactions with distinguished individuals such as Abraham Sam and Grace Aiyegbogdon, TD Jakes and Collin Powers, to name a few.

Reading this book will provide valuable insights into the lives of prominent Nigerians and offer a poignant glimpse into the remarkable journey of a young Nigerian girl who became a source of inspiration for her family, friends and the diaspora community.

With every turn of the page in this book, I am inspired to acknowledge my own life experiences, this time with a thoughtful appreciation of the profound influence our

testimonies can have on others.

As you read this book, may you unlock a deeper sense of confidence and courage, and may your unique story enrich your life with purpose and meaning.
